The purpose of this position is to assess and make decisions about customer credit applications using a range of criteria including purpose of application, credit viability, customer payment history and customer creditworthiness. Determine the credit worthiness of clients applying for credit facilities.
It will be required to be sufficient in computer skills, flexibility, excellent interpersonal skills, project coordination, and the ability to work well with all levels of internal as well as external clients.
Credit Management
Assess the risk associated with extending credit and make recommendation for credit approvals or rejections.
Completing ratio, trend and cash flows analyses and creating projections.
Submitting credit proposal with recommendation to Line Manager
Knowledge and understanding of the following Legislative requirements:
Strong understanding of relevant laws and regulations such as: National Credit Act, Financial Intelligence Centre Act (FICA), Protection of Personal Information Act (POPI Act)
Strong interpersonal and customer service skills, including the ability to form and maintain client and business relationships.
Business Acumen.
Monitor and manage the credit exposure of existing borrowers by reviewing financial statements and conducting periodic risk assessments.
Evaluate the financial health of borrowers by analysing Turnover, debt levels and liquidity.
Overdue accounts collection
Persistently and assertively manage and reduce Debtors Book via telephone, emails, and meetings.
Strong Account Recon abilities; investigation and query resolution capabilities
Maintain and upkeep the Master data on Sage.
Reporting
Analyse all Overdue accounts and make recommendations to reduce credit risk exposure.
Weekly reporting on all overdue accounts to Line Manager
Data gathering for internal and external auditors.
Conducting thorough analysis of financial statements, credit reports and other relevant data to assess the creditworthiness of Businesses.
Prepare detailed credit reports and summaries for internal and external stakeholders.
General
Assist in the development and implementation of credit policies, procedures, and risk assessment models to improve overall credit management.
Ad hoc duties and reporting as required.
Other:
After-hours working might be required.
Academic qualification:
Grade 12 with accounting as subject.
Qualifications or studying towards the following qualifications:
Credit Control Certificate.
National Diploma or degree in Credit Management.
Experience:
Sound knowledge of MS Office.
Advanced Excel skills.
SAGE Evolution experience (Advantage)
Minimum five years’ Credit Management and debt collection experience is preferred
