I am a marketing and communications specialist who has experience in international relations (particularly public diplomacy), international communications, international marketing (including brand management), publishing and journalism. Fairly world travelled in pursuit of South Africa's bilateral, polylateral (International Red Cross Society etc), minilateral (such as with IBSA and BRICS) and multilateral (UN and Bretton Woods institutions) foreign policy objectives. I have full spectrum of experience from various backgrounds: private sector, public entities, government and NGOs. I am a published poet, children's writer and a filmmaker. In 2001 I was shortlisted for the coveted Sunday Times' Bessie Head Fellowship. I hold several degrees (BA from UNIN; BA Hons, MA from Wits University) and a Post-Graduate Diploma from the IMM Graduate School of Marketing. I have undertaken vocational training programmes in public diplomacy and international relations and the University of Southern California's Annenburg School of Public Diplomacy and the Netherlands Insitute of International Relations in Clingendael. I am a member of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) and Marketing Association of South Africa (MASA). A former Publicity and Publications Officer of the Turfloop branch of the Azanian Student Organisation (now SASCO), I spent thirteen months in detention under the State of Emergency in the mid-1980s. Currently I pursue an MSc in Global Marketing with the University of Liverpool.
