    ASA denies investigating baseless complaints

    According to the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) of South Africa's recently released annual report shows, only 23% complaints received from consumers warrant formal investigation. "We have a very careful screening process for complaints," says Gail Schimmel, head: legal and regulatory affairs of ASA. "Only complaints that fall within our jurisdiction and have some basis in the Code are formally investigated".
