Research by US-based career and job website PayScale has found that engineers earn the highest salaries.
People with degrees in engineering, computer science and maths had the highest earnings - up to $168,000 (R2.7m) per year for those with 10 years' experience, or a starting salary of up to $101,000 (R1.7m) for highly qualified engineering graduates.
